Statewide standards ensure quality education

Core Curriculum - Established statewide standards in seven key subject areas that will ensure that all students throughout the state receive a quality education and gain the necessary skills to succeed in college or the workforce.

School Funding - Enacted a comprehensive school financing plan that ties statewide curriculum standards to school aid and holds districts accountable for efficiently using the funds and for student achievement in core curriculum subjects.

Improve education with choice, charter schools, & character

Families can now opt to send their kids to one of over 60 charter schools. Others can take advantage of our school choice program. Our schools need to instill values that are timeless. We have to teach our kids values like respect and responsibility. Let’s choose character education programs and make them available to every school district.

Supports charter schools; now 50 in NJ

Charter Schools - Signed legislation enabling parents, teachers, colleges and business groups to create publicly funded charter schools. Charter schools will allow more creativity and freedom in education and also improve the overall system through choice and competition. Nearly 50 charter schools have opened since September 1997, serving almost 10,000 students.
