Green Party on Abortion

Party Platform

Women's right to control their bodies is non-negotiable

Women's right to control their bodies is non-negotiable. It is essential that the option of a safe, legal abortion remains available. The "morning-after" pill must be affordable and easily accessible without a prescription, together with a government-sponsored public relations campaign to educate women about this form of contraception. Clinics must be accessible & must offer advice on contraception; consultation about abortion and the performance of abortions.

Keep safe & legal abortion

We believe the right of a woman to control her own body is inalienable. It is essential that the option of a safe, legal abortion remains available.

Cover abortion under national health care system

[The national health care system should] cover all standard medical procedures, treatment, diagnosis, etc. as well as drug treatment, dental care, medication, chronic and terminal illness, and abortion.
