Martha Coakley on Jobs

Supported by firefighter's union but not rank-and-file

We headed to Florian Hall in Dorchester, home to a million potluck dinners & retirement parties for firefighters. Firefighters had been a particular flash point in the Brown-Coakley race 2 years earlier. Although the union leadership officially endorsed Coakley, the rank and file were reported to have voted for Brown in big numbers. I'd been visiting fire stations for nearly a year, and it wasn't lost on me that a lot of the cars and pickups parked near the firehouse still bore Scott Brown stickers.

Keep historic industries like fishing in Massachusetts

Martha appreciates the historic role of local industries such as the fishing industry in the Massachusetts economy. Martha has worked with local fisherman to address their concerns about the impediments they face in doing business. As Senator, Martha will bring a broad vision of economic growth to Washington. Martha will work to ensure resources and incentives are available to attract businesses to Massachusetts and keep them here well into the future.

Prosecuted minimum wage and child labor violations

Martha Coakley's Office has issued citations against two different Domino's Pizza franchise owners for violations of the Massachusetts Wage Act. The Attorney General's Office ordered Domino's Pizza of Lynn and Randolph to pay over $16,500 in restitution and penalties for failing to pay wages in a timely manner, and failing to pay minimum wage. The Attorney General's Office has also separately cited Domino's Pizza in Mansfield for multiple child labor violations, ordering over $5,000 in penalties.
