Stem cell research holds promise for debilitating diseases
Doyle returned to the stem cell issue, unveiling a TV ad with actor Michael J. Fox, who has Parkinson's disease. The ad suggests that the Doyle campaign sees the stem cell issue as a powerful way to woo undecided voters. Stem cell research is seen as
holding the promise to cure or lead to treatments for a host of debilitating diseases. In the ad, Fox says Doyle "knows the promise (the research) holds & the jobs it can create," while saying Green "has stood in the way of embryonic stem cell research."

Keep WI the leader, as the birthplace of stem cell research
My mother recently passed away from Parkinson's, so I understand the importance of keeping Wisconsin--the birthplace of stem cell research--the world's stem cell leader. Rep. Green stood with George Bush when Bush vetoed federal funding for stem cell
research and has voted to ban or criminalize stem cell research 8 times. The future of embryonic stem cell research hangs in the balance on Election Day. As long as I'm governor, I will never turn my back on families that look to this research for hope.
