Nick Carter on Homeland Security

Democratic Senate Challenger

Enough spending on armed forces already

Q: Do you support the statement, "More spending on armed forces"?

A: Do not support. We already spend as much on our military as the rest of the world combined. Inadequate funding is not the military's problem.

New G.I. Bill is the least we can do to honor service

Nick Carter expressed his anger and disbelief that Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) today voted against the new G.I. Bill that would provide the opportunity for the men and women of our armed forces to attend college and integrate back into society upon completion of their mission in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"The answer to troop retention is not for Washington bureaucrats to deny benefits to the brave men and women who have sacrificed everything to serve this country," Carter said. "The answer is for our nation's leaders to define our mission in Iraq and Afghanistan so that our military can achieve victory and bring our troops home."

Carter continued, "Senator Barrasso attempts to trap our current soldiers into reenlisting by pushing back the benefits of the G.I. Bill for an additional four years. We should create incentives by providing a G.I Bill with tangible benefits. It is the least this country can do to honor our men and women in uniform."
