Secure our borders; no amnesty

We need to secure our borders. In the war on terror, border security is national security, and Congress has been ignoring the problem for years. In the last year, we all saw the 2400-foot tunnel under our border with Mexico. Congress has abdicated its duty to protect our borders.

Immigrants need to play by the rules. Chris does not support amnesty, but will fight to make sure immigrants are able to earn citizenship by paying all their back taxes and learning and using English.

Establish English as the official national language.
Carney adds, "Border Security is National Security. As a counterterrorism expert, I am extremely concerned about our porous borders. I do not support amnesty - we cannot reward illegal behavior but we need to provide a way for illegals to earn citizenship by paying back taxes, learning English, and obtaining gainful employment. "

Declare English as the official language of the US.

Carney co-sponsored declaring English as the official language of the US

This bill declares English as the official language of the United States, establishes a uniform English language rule for naturalization.

The United States is comprised of individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds, and continues to benefit from this rich diversity.
Throughout the history of the United States, the common thread binding individuals of differing backgrounds has been the English language.
Federal Representatives of shall have an obligation to enhance the role of English as the official language of the Federal Government.
The official functions of the Government of the United States shall be conducted in English.
All citizens should be able to read and understand generally the English language text of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the laws of the US.
All naturalization ceremonies shall be conducted in English.
