Background checks infringe Second Amendment

Ross Spano voted against H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019: "The Second Amendment is quite clear--'the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed'. If enacted, I believe it would make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families. I did not support this bill, nor will I support tomorrow's bill, which imposes burdensome requirements I do not agree with or support."

National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund Chairman Chris W. Cox issued the following statement congratulating Ross Spano on his victory. "Spano is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, and he will work hard to protect our constitutional freedoms. Florida voters rejected the extreme gun control agenda backed by Michael Bloomberg and sent a clear message in support of our Second Amendment right to self-defense."
